Karen Viskupic

Assistant Research Professor & Education Programs Manager

Professional Bio:

My primary research interests are in the field of geoscience education at the K-12, undergraduate and graduate levels.  In the K-12 arena, I am interested in students’ understanding of geoscience topics such as Earth history and the science of geochronology and in how to design effective outreach programs that will both educate and inspire future scientists and future citizens.  At the undergraduate level, my interests include curriculum design and development to improve student learning and increase retention and graduation.  At the graduate level, I am interested in the development of writing and speaking skills and how these skills relate to student understanding of their own research.
